Enterprise Integration/ B2B Industry Experience
InterDev have delivered successful business outcomes across a diverse
range of industries including transport and logistics, financial services,
manufacturing and government. Provided below are samples of the projects
undertaken.
Trading Exchange
InterDev created a trading exchange for a major Australian transport
company. The exchange centralised messaging (data transactions) and integrated
16 disparate business systems. webMethods technology was utilised to undertake
this project and the outcomes for the client have been:
- significant increase in customer service and satisfaction
- simplification of internal integration
- lower time to market for solutions
- lower costs of development and data integration
- a platform to develop client facing and mobility applications for
self-service and delivery solutions
The initial problem
Acquisitions had led to a multitude of different business systems within
the group. This led to significant issues for customers who were forced
to interact with different systems and trading processes with the client.
The opportunity to significantly enhance customer service (including self
service), along with greater availability of real-time information availability
to customers was seen as a competitive advantage and offered great efficiencies
with customer service staff. In addition, data within the group was not
centralised and often duplicated. Business to Business (B2B) opportunities
to streamline the supply chain were not easily brought to market and this
was seen as a potential competitive advantage.
Solving the Problem
In order to overcome the issues and to provide a platform for future business
systems integration, a centralised trading exchange was designed. This
trading exchange would provide ‘standard transactions’ or
‘business objects’ that would be used to communicate between
the different systems, as well as external customers. These transactions
would be typical business events such as ‘consignment note’,
‘proof of delivery’, or ‘delivery enquiry’. The
underlying technical platform (webMethods) would provide the technical
integration components in a standardized fashion.
The centralised exchange was designed to enable future business requirements
and reduce time to market while decreasing the technical complexity. Important
issues such as centralised management and administration were addressed
and capacity for growth and performance were also considered.
The Outcome
The trading exchange now connects over 16 different business systems and
has provided the platform to deliver extensive web based customer self
service solutions. This solution has provided the group with the ability
to easily capture, and more importantly, meet customer-defined KPIs. In
addition, mobility solutions have been delivered which utilise the trading
exchange to interact with the different systems and provide real-time
information to both drivers and customers.
